The importance of a correct provisional corporate income tax assessment for 2024

02-04-2025 By //  by Pascal Louwes

Throughout the year, provisional assessments for corporate income tax (CIT) are issued. If, after July 1, 2025, an additional amount of CIT for 2024 still needs to be paid, interest will be charged on this amount. Currently, this interest rate is 9%.

If a request to amend a 2024 provisional CIT assessment is submitted no later than May 1, 2025, an (amended) provisional assessment will be issued before July 1, 2025, thereby avoiding potential interest charges.

In April 2025, we will review our client files to verify, where possible, the accuracy of the 2024 provisional CIT assessments. However, it is not always possible for us to determine the correct amount of the assessments, as we often do not (yet) have access to all relevant information.

Therefore, we urgently request all our clients to contact us as soon as possible if they believe that their 2024 provisional CIT assessment may not have been issued for the correct amount.
